ALBANY, N.Y. – Visiting Eastern Connecticut State used a 12-3 run to down Russell Sage College 15-9 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.
Midfielder Anthony Marrone (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township), a grad student, topped the Gators with five goals and an assist. It marked the second-straight game in which Marrone scored five goals.
Junior attacker Mame Diba (New York, NY/Haldane) added two goals, while midfielder Jake McElwee (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty), a grad student, and senior defender Joe Johnson (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) registered a goal and an assist apiece.
Freshman goalkeeper Jordon Hankel (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) (0-3) established a career-high with 15 saves. The rookie has made at least 13 stops in each of the first three games of the spring.
Down 5-4 at the break, ECSU (2-0) opened the third period with four goals in a 3:30 span to gain some breathing room. After RSC trimmed its deficit to one, 8-7, with tallies by Diba and Marrone, the Warriors netted the next six goals.
RSC (0-3) wraps up its stretch of four home games to begin its season on Friday night vs. Dean.
