GATORS 2015 SKYLINE REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS!!

ALBANY, NY – With a 0-0 tie against Mount Saint Mary, Tuesday night, the Gators have clinched the 2015 regular season Skyline Championship for the second time in program history.

After 30 minutes of gritty back-and-fourth action, Mount Saint Mary's Michael Blaauboer ripped a hard hit shot at the Gator goal, but Sage's TJ Zehner made a diving save to keep the Knights off the board.

13 minutes later, Luis Teran almost put Sage ahead off a header from a set piece, but Mount Saint Mary goalie Austin Peluso kept the score 0-0 going into the second half.

In the 55th minute, the Gators had a chance to find the back of the net on Alex Lanza and Mu'Ammar Camara shots, but their efforts were stopped by Peluso and the Knight defense.

Both teams continued to go back and forth until the end of regulation.

Mount Saint Mary's best chance of the game came with 54 seconds left in the first overtime as Michael Ennis hit a shot from the left side of the penalty box, but it hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced back into play.

Sage responded in the beginning of the second overtime with a breakaway from River Seybolt in the 102nd minute. Peluso came off his line and dove to stop Seybolt's advance to ensure the 0-0 tie.

Zehner (11-3-3) recorded a season high eight saves while Peluso also had eight saves.

The Gator defense of Zehner, Teran, Joe Diano, Kyle LeClerc and Christian Pinti recorded their 12th shutout of the season.

This is Sage's second regular season championship in the last three years with their last one occurring in 2013.

The Knights are currently tied for 6th with Maritime for the final playoff spot. Purchase is a mere point behind and also trying to keep their postseason hopes alive All three teams will know their playoff fait tomorrow night after Maritime and Purchase play their last conference game of the year.

With their first place finish in the standings, the Gators have locked in a first round bye and home field advantage for the Skyline playoffs.

Sage will host a semifinal game on Wed., Nov. 4 at a time to be determined against the winner of one of the first-round games.
