Gators downed by Potsdam St.

ALBANY – Joe Diano scored his first career goal, but Sage fell to Potsdam St. 4-1 in a rainy contest.

Potsdam (5-1, 0-0 SUNYAC) was on the offensive early getting two shots off in the first ten minutes before River Seybolt got off a shot in the 13th minute.

The bears scored in the 27th and 28th minutes off goals from Matt Parsons and Johnny Zator to make it 2-0.

The Gators had a quality chance in the 34th minute off a Derlis Zayas header, but it went just high.

Potsdam added a third goal in the 47th minute off a Matthew Wagner goal from an Isaac Sanabria corner kick.

In the 51st minute, Sage (2-1-2, 0-0 Skyline) was forced to play the remainder of the game with ten men after a red card was issued.

The Bears capitalized on their advantage by scoring in the 53rd minute off a cross by Stephen Auyer to Ben Firlit.

The Gators continued to fight adversity and broke through the Bears' defense in the 87th as Diano scored of a Paul Reynoso free kick.

Goal keepers TJ Zehner and Chris Dunham recorded six and one saves respectively. Potsdam goalie finished with five saves.

Sage is set to play Bard College on the road on Wed. Sept. 16 at 7:00 p.m.
