Sage Tops Mt. St. Vincent 3-1

RIVERDALE, NY – Kyle LeClerc (Beacon, NY/Beacon) tallied one goal and one assist in Sage's 3-1 win over the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday afternoon.

The Dolphins jumped out to an early lead after Jair Magallan scored in the fifth minute to break Sage's (7-2-2, 3-0-1 Skyline) TJ Zehner's (Beacon, NY/Beacon) four game shutout streak.

After Mount Saint Vincent (5-6-2, 1-3-2 Skyline) got off three unanswered shots, Sage's River Seybolt (Seldon,, NY/Longwood) ripped the first shot for the Gators in the 13th minute.

The Gators continued pressing on offense until Luis Teran (Farmingdale, NY/Newfield) tied the game in the 17th minute off a rebounded shot from LeClerc.

Seybolt recorded three unanswered shots until Mount Saint Vincent's Jorge Quinones hit a shot wide in the 31st minute.

A minute later, a foul was called on sage and a penalty was awarded to the Dolphins. Zehner came up big for the Gators after saving Andrew Gomez's shot from the PK spot.

The Dolphins looked like they were going to take the lead in the 35th minute, but Hussain Alsubaie hit the crossbar off a Guy Horcasitas corner kick.

With the game tied 1-1 going into the second half, Seybolt connected on his fifth goal of the season to put the Gators up 2-1 in the 55th minute. The freshman put the ball low and away in the left corner off a pass from Alex Lanza (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill).

Six minutes later, LeClerc put away the insurance goal for the Gators off a throw-in from Lanza.

Zehner (7-2-2) was credited with the win on five saves while Mount Saint Vincent goalies David Melchor and Rich Diodati combined for 10 saves.

Seybolt now leads the Gators with five goals and 11 points. The freshman currently leads the Skyline in game-winning-goals (four). With his two assists today, Lanza currently leads the Gators in assists (three).

With their win over the Dolphins, Sage is now in first in the Skyline with 10 points. The Gators are one point ahead of Farmingdale, Mount Saint Mary and Old Westbury.

The Gators are set to play Yeshiva Sun., Oct. 11 at ACP for "Take a Kid to the Game Day." Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
