Sage Men Cruise Past Cazenovia in 6-0 Win

CAZENOVIA, NY – Freshman River Seybolt led the Gators with two goals and one assist in his collegiate debut as the Gators defeated Cazenovia 6-0 in their 2015 season opener.

Seybolt opened the offense early for Sage (1-0, 0-0 Skyline) with a shot two and half minutes into the game, but it went high off target. However, the freshman connected on a pass from James Lagunas five minutes later to put the Gators up 1-0.

In the 13th minute, Mu'Ammar Camara found Luis Teran on the first corner kick of the game to put Sage up 2-0. 

Sage's offense continued to be relentless as Camara and Lagunas each scored on passes from Seybolt and Teran respectively. The Gators went into the locker room at halftime up 4-0.

Sage came out strong after halftime with shots by Sarpong Adjei and Liam Hayes in the first eight minutes.

The Gators teed off five more shots by five different players before Seybolt found the back of the net on his second goal of the game in the 69th minute to up Sage up 5-0.

Less than ten minutes later, Elhadj Kourouma scored the final goal of the game on a pass from Fayssal Abdou to ensure Sage's 6-0 win.

The Gator defense of Kyle LeClerc, Paul Reynoso, Andrew Bartoah, Christian Pinti, Joe Diano, Anthony Williamson and James Fitzpatrick held the Cazenovia offense to a mere three shots with the help of TJ Zehner and Chris Dunham in goal.

Cazenovia (0-1, 0-0 NEAC) keeper Tim Nicholls faced 22 shots with seven saves.

The Gators travel to the Union Soccer Classic this weekend to take on Union on Fri., Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. and RPI on Sat., Sept. 5 at 4:30 p.m.
