Gators Bats Erupt to Earn Split

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – Russell Sage College scored the final 15 runs of an 18-4 (6 innings) Empire 8 Conference victory at Elmira.

The Gators, which dropped the opener of the Friday afternoon twinbill 2-1 (8 innings), saw seven different players record multiple hits to earn the split. 

Senior outfielder Madalyn Ring (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls)led the way by going 4-for-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, and a pair of stolen bases.

Junior infielder Hannah Smith (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa/Saint Rose)  was 3-for-5 with four runs scored and four RBI, while sophomore infielder Annalise Tyler (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) was 2-for-3 for two runs scored, four RBI and two steals out of the leadoff spot.

An unearned run in the bottom half of the eighth proved to be the difference in the opener.

Sophomore infielder Jocelyn Jean paced Elmira (6-15-1/4-6 E8) by going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored across the two games.

For the Gators, Tyler went 3-for-7 with three runs scored and four RBI, while Smith was 4-for-8 with four runs scored and four RBI on the day.

RSC (8-18/4-6 E8) is slated to play a Conference twinbill at Keuka tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
