New York, NY--Two members of Sage's softball team earned acclaim from the Skyline Conference for their outstanding play last week. Rookie infielder Karlie Williams (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) was selected as the Rookie of the Week, while sophomore short stop Hillary Faas (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) was named the league's co-Player of the Week.

Faas, who is 37 game starter at short, came up big for the Gators as they went 5-1 last week and garnered the program's first-ever appearance in the Skyline Conference Softball Tournament. She batted .476 with a 10-21 effort at the plate and connected on four doubles, a home run, 12 RBI's and four runs scored. She owns a .378 average at the plate with 35 RBIs and a school-record 127 at-bats.

Williams played another key factor in the Gators' big week. She had her first career grand slam as she helped the Gators knock off and sweep Farmingdale State for the No. 2 seed in the 2012 Skyline Conference Tournament. She batted .353 last week with 8 RBIs and broke Sage's single-season RBI record with her 37th RBI.

With a school-record performance, Sage stands at 24-13 this season and will host a playoff game on Wednesday, April 25, another school-first for the Gators. Jamie Brown's Gators are seeded No. 2 and will host No. 3 seeded Farmingdale State on April 25 at 4 p.m. at Robison Field. The double-elimination four-team tournament will shift to top seeded NYU-Poly on April 28-29 with the league's champion garnering a spot in the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship.
