Brooklyn, NY--- The Fighting Blue Jays of NYU-Poly collected a pair of wins over The Sage Colleges in Skyline Conference softball action on Sunday. NYU-Poly tallied a 12-4 win in the first game and added a 7-2 win in the nightcap. NYU-Poly improves to 21-9 overall and 9-1 in the league, while Sage is now 19-12 overall with a 7-5 record in the Skyline Conference action.

The Gators return to action on Wednesday, April 18 hosting SUNY-New Paltz in a 3:30 p.m. non-conference doubleheader at Robison Field.

Game # 1 NYU-Poly 12-4 Sage

Against NYU-Poly in the first game, sophomore Chantal Ceragioli (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) added a 1-2 effort with two RBIs and a double, while junior outfielder Rachel Smith (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) also drove in a pair of runs for Gate.

Sage's junior pitcher Kelsey Newberg (New Britain, CT/New Britain) suffered the loss after 4.2 innings of work with six strikeouts. She yielded nine earned runs off 11 hits and drops to 10-7 on the year.

Game # 2  NYU-Poly 7-2 Sage

Rachel Smith etched her name into Sage's record book as she tallied her seventh home run of the season. She broke the mark set first in 2008 by Maria Pasquarelli with six and tied in 2010 by Kellie Jones. Smith also tied the single-season record for most runs scored in a season as she connected on her 31st run of the season. She tied the mark held by Melissa Roy (1999, 31 runs) after going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Smith took the loss in the circle for Sage after six innings of work and drops to 9-5. She gave up just three earned runs off nine hits and fanned five in the action.

Rookie Kristen Beikirch (Brockport, NY/Brockport) added a 2-4 effort and elevated her season hit total to 47, which is now second and two away from tying the mark set in 1999 by Melissa Roy (49).
