Anthony Crawford Named Men's Track and Field Gator of the Year

Albany, NY – The Sage College’s department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2013-2014 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2013-2014 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as well as the ECAC Merit Medal and the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year. The 2014 season marked the first season for men’s outdoor track and field member, junior Anthony Crawford (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) was selected as the first Gator Award winner for the year.

Additionally, Crawford was named to The Sage College’s Intercollegiate Athletic Honor Society, which recognizes junior, senior, or graduate level student-athletes, that have maintained a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.3 or better and have participated as a member of a varsity team for at least two seasons.

Also a member of Sage’s inaugural men’s outdoor track and field team, he had a number of significant and impressive performances in 2014. While competing at the Wesleyan University Swanson Invitational, he finished in 8th place in the 100 meter dash in 11.54 and picked up 10th place in the 200 meter dash in 23.43. He was also part of the 7th place in the 4 x 100 relay which posted a time of 49.22 as the lead-off runner.

At the Springfield College Invitational, he picked up 13h place in the 100 meter dash in 11.58 and had a 16th showing in the 200 meter run in 23.41. He also competed on the 4 x 400 relay, Sage posted a time of 3:58.14.

At the Capital District Championships at RPI, he finished in 12th place in the 200 meter run with a time of 23.41.  At the final meet of the season, the Matthew Vassar Twilight Invitational, he was part of Sage’s fifth place 4 x 100 meter relay team as they combined to post a time of 48.66.
