Sage men's track squad in action at nearby Capital District Championship

SAGE TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT CAPITAL DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP AT RPI

 

Troy, NY---The Sage Colleges' men's outdoor track and field team competed on Saturday at the Capital District Championships, a non-team scored meet held at RPI.

For Sage's men's team, junior Josh Myers (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) picked up a fifth place finish in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase with his time of 10:59.45.

The Gators added a sixth place finish in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 48.91 behind the work of junior James Carroll (Troy, NY/Home Schooled), junior Ronnie Reed (Harlem, NY/Frederick Douglas Academy II), junior Oliver Sibilia (Brooklyn, NY/Science Skills Center), and senior Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central).

In the 200 meter run junior Anthony Crawford (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) finished in 12th place with a time of 23.41, ahead of Sage teammate, sophomore Nicholas Haas (Jamaica Estates, NY/Saint John) who took home 42nd in 26.58.

Sophomore Juan Reyes-Alverez (Latham, NY/Shaker) picked up a 14th place finish with his time of 16:57.66 in the 5,000 meter run, while rookie Jonathan McNeil (Bloomfield, CT/Greater Hartford Classical Magnet) added a 50th place showing in the 800 meter run in 2:22.43.

Sage finished in 15th in the 4 x 400 relay behind Carroll, Kelly, Sibilia and freshman Unique Warren (Harrison, NY/Harrison) with a time of 3:56.26.

Freshman Eric Denny (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) added a sixth place showing in the long jump with his mark of 6.29 meters, while Sibilia was 26th in the shot put with his mark of 6.97 meters. Junior Taylor McMillen (Waynantskill, NY/Averill Park) competed for the first time this season and produced an 8th place finish in the javelin with his throw of 38.56 meters.

Next up for the Gators is competition on May 2, travelling to Vassar College for their event, which starts at 5 p.m.
