SAGE TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT WESLEYAN'S SWANSON INVITATIONAL: REYES-ALVARAEZ BECOMES SAGE'S FIRST EVENT CHAMPION

Middletown, CT---The Sage Colleges' women's and men's outdoor track and field teams competed on Saturday at the Wesleyan University Swanson Invitational, a non-team scored meet.

Sophomore Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) became the Gators' first champion in any event as he won the men's 5,000 meter run in 17:05.74.

Junior Anthony Crawford (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) finished in 8th place in the 100 meter dash in 11.54. Ronnie Reed added a 23rd place finish in the event in 14.07. In the 200 meter dash, Crawford took 10th place in 23.43, while Reed finished in 34th place in 30.46.

Freshman Eric Denny (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) added a fourth place showing in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.09, while adding a fourth place in the high jump (1.83 meters) and a fourth in the long jump (6.11 meters).  Reed added a 14th place finish in the shot put with his mark of 8.0 meters.

In the 400 meter run, sophomore Nicholas Haas took 18th place in 59.93, while rookie Jonathan McNeil (Bloomfield, CT/Greater Hartford Classical Magnet) added a 15th place showing in the 800 meter in 2:22.19. Senior Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central) picked up 20th place in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:40.18.

Sage finished in 7th place in the 4 x 11 relay in 49.22 behind the efforts of Crawford, Denny, Haas and McNeil.

In the 4 x 400 relay, Sage posted a time of 3:58.14 behind the work of junior James Carroll (Troy, NY/Home Schooled), Crawford, Denny, and Haas.  Kelly, McNeil, junior Josh Myers (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), and Reyes-Alverez posted a time of 9:20.59 to finish in fourth place. in the 4 x 800 meter relay.

Next up for the Gators is competition on April 16 at the SUNY-Delhi Bronco Invitational and again on April 19 at the Springfield College Invitational.
