Taylor Gillespie, RSC Head Women's Tennis Coach

ALBANY - Russell Sage College Athletics announced the promotion of Taylor Gillespie '22 (Cobleskill, N.Y.) to its Head Women's Tennis Coach.

Gillespie, who played for the Gators from 2019-2021, has served as the program's assistant coach since graduation. She helped RSC achieve one of its most successful seasons in 2024. The Gators tallied eight victories, including a program-record five Empire 8 Conference wins, and reached the semifinals of the E8 Championship Tournament.

"I'm incredibly honored to step into the role of Head Women's Tennis Coach at Russell Sage College," said Gillespie. "As a former player and assistant coach for this program, this opportunity means so much to me. I'm excited to continue building a strong, competitive, and supportive environment for our student-athletes, on and off the court. I look forward to leading this team into a new chapter of growth and success."

"Russell Sage is proud to announce Taylor Gillespie as our next women's tennis coach," added Jim Lyons, RSC Director of Athletics.  "Taylor was twice named an All-Empire 8 Conference selection as a player at Russell Sage.  In addition, she helped mentor multiple all-conference players, as well as three E8 Rookie of the Year winners during her time in 'The Swamp' as an assistant coach.  Taylor has a strong knowledge of the game, and a coaching style that will fit well with our student-athletes.  We are thrilled to have Taylor as a part of our head coaching staff in Sage athletics."

During her three seasons as a Gator, Gillespie earned All-Conference doubles honors twice.  She was also recognized on the 2021 E8 Women's Tennis Sportswomen of the Year Team and helped RSC tally ten wins in 2019.
