ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Athletics announced the resignation of Ryan Lanigan as its men's lacrosse coach, effective January 2, 2025.

Lanigan was one of the longest tenured staff members in the department, hired as the first coach of the program in the summer of 2017.  He increased the young program's standing at the national and regional levels, guiding RSC to six wins in each of the past three springs.

In what ended up becoming the final season with Lanigan, a former All-American at Lebanon Valley, at the helm of the Gators, long-stick midfielder Joe Johnson (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) received an honorable mention for the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American Team and was voted first-team All-Empire 8 Conference. Johnson became the first RSC Men's Lacrosse player to earn either of these accolades.

Across the past six seasons, two of which were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, ten Gators earned All-E8 honors with many more garnering academic acclaim from the College Sports Communicators, Empire 8 Conference, and Russell Sage College.

An international hiring search to fill the opening has begun.  For more information regarding the position contact: Jim Lyons, Director of Athletics.
