Sage remains perfect in Skyline with 68-56 victory over Dolphins

Albany, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team hosted the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference game in Kahl Gym. CMSV entered the contest as the league's defending champions and Sage came away with a 68-56 victory to remain unbeaten in conference action. Sage improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the league and extend their unbeaten streak to six games. The Dolphins drop to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the Skyline with Tuesday's setback.

At the half, the Dolphins took a 28-27 lead as sophomore guard Kelly Nola (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) put up a layup right before the break as the two teams had three first half ties with 10 lead changes. Nola added six points in the first half, while junior guard Brittany Carroll (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) tallied 10 first half points to pace the Dolphins.

Sage's rookie Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added eight points in the first half with four rebounds and three steals for the Gators. Newcomer Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Makeel Christian Academy) added six points off the bench with two first half three pointers.

Sage used a strong second half as they shot 52.0% from the floor (13025) after a slow start shooting 20.0% in the first half. Leading the way on the evening with 16 points was Parslow with eight points in each half and five rebounds. Junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) finished with 13 points with five assists, while junior forward Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) had a double-double on 12 points and a game-high 12 boards. She added two blocks as well and continues to climb the career block list at Sage with 52 blocks, which is No. 4 all-time at Sage.

Sage sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) connected for 11 points before fouling out with six rebounds and two blocks and has now score in double-digits in all but one game this year.

CMSV's Carroll finished with 16 points, while Nola tallied 10 points. Joining them in double-digit scoring was junior Christina Barone (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) with 10 points with three assists and two steals. Senior guard Theresa Carey (Hampton Bays, NY/Hampton Bays) also tallied 10 points and finished with a team-best seven boards.

Sage returns to action on December 10 hosting Purchase College in a 6 p.m. league contest, while College of Mt. St. Vincent visits SUNY-Old Westbury on December 12 for a noon league contest.

Sage will hold its Flood the Swamp with Sage Gear Night on December 10 and will be giving prizes to fans wearing Sage gear as they host the Battle of the Classes Night pitting RSC students against SCA students.
