Albany, NY---Sage's women's basketball team continues to set new accomplishments each time they step on the hardwood! This time the top seeded Gators will host the Skyline Conference Championship on February 27 at 1 p.m. in Kahl Gym as they host the Panthers of SUNY-Old Westbury.
Tickets are $3 for adults, while children under age 12 are free as well as Sage and SUNY-Old Westbury students admitted for free with a valid ID!
The Gators captured the program's first Skyline Conference regular-season championship after an impressive 15-1 campaign in the league. SUNY-Old Westbury owns a 22-5 overall mark after a 13-3 season in conference action.
Along the way this season, the Gators set a program mark for the most consecutive wins after reeling off 15 victories spanning the months of December and January. Additionally, the team has already shattered the mark for most wins in a season, which has grown to 21 after an 18-win campaign last year.
Sage's second year head coach Allison Coleman owns an impressive 39-13 mark in her two seasons, good enough for a .750 win percentage. Tapped as the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year on Friday, Coleman's 2015-2016 Gator lineup boasts the 2015-2016 Skyline Conference Co-Rookie of the Year in guard Emily Parlsow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville), while last year's Skyline Rookie of the Year, sophomore tri-captain Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) earned a spot on the Skyline Conference First Team. Junior tri-captain Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central), the 2014 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, earned Skyline Conference Second Team honors for her play this year.
Parslow received Rookie-of-the-Week kudos twice, and was instrumental in the Gators' backcourt to help the team to a program-record 21 wins and the regular-season championship. She scored 10.5 points per game, while ranking No. 4 in the conference (and tops among rookies) with 3.4 assists per game, and tied for third with 1.8 3-point field goals made per contest.
Schoff has ammassed 409 points this season already and stands third in the single-season record book with her efforts as a 26-game starter. She owns a 15.7 ppg average to lead the team, while also adding 240 caroms and a 9.2 rpg average. She also holds the program's record for most free throws made (141) and attempted (180), while adding 39 blocks.
Pearson continues to add to her resume that also includes career marks for most three-point baskets as she has 134 to date, while connecting for a single-season 65 treys this year. She checks in with a 12.6 ppg average and has already racked up 753 career points and is the Gators' 10th leading scorer in her 78 games played.
