Gators open Skyline play with convincing 57-34 win over MSMC

Newburgh, NY— The Sage College's women's basketball team travelled to Mt. St. Mary College on Wednesday evening for the team's Skyline Conference opener. The Gators tallied a convincing win, downing the Knights 57-34. Sage improves to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline, while the Knights drop to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Sage, which has now won four straight, led 27-15 at the break after holding MSMC to just five second quarter points and limiting the team to a  19.7 % (13-66) shooting percentage for the night.

Leading the way for Sage was sophomore forward Gen Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) with 14 points and 11 rebounds. She has now scored in double-digits in six of the team's seven contests this year, while averaging 14.9 ppg which leads the team, while also averaging a team-best 8.4 rpg average.

Rookie guard Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy) tallied 11 points off the bench as well, while making 3-of-5 from three-point range. Junior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) and rookie Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) each finished with nine points in the contest.

Gator junior forward Krystyn Knockwood (Troy, NY/Troy) paced the team with her 12 rebounds and added two blocked shots with four assists and two points. She is now in fifth place on the Sage career block list with 49 blocks, just two behind Kara Hackett (51, 2009-2013).

Sage returns to action on December 5 for a noon home Skyline Conference match-up with Farmingdale State College in Kahl on Saturday.
