Pittsford, NY–The Cardinals of St. John Fisher College posted a 69-57 win over Sage in Empire 8 women's basketball on Friday night. With the win, SJFC sweeps Sage on the year and improves to 17-6 overall and 10-2 in the Empire 8. Sage drops to 12-11 overall with an 8-4 league record. SJFC led 32-23 at the half and was paced by the play of Amy Gardner who poured in 28 points.
Sage was paced by junior forward Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central) who had a season-best 18 points with three rebounds.
Graduate player, Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) added 17 points with seven rebounds and a pair of blocks in the game, while graduate performer, Kaitlyn Bowman (Chateaugay, NY/Saranac) put up 16 points with four rebounds and seven assists.
Flynn now has 800 career points with 637 rebounds in her time at Sage and is now 14th in scoring and fifth in rebounding in 82 career games played at Sage. Bowman now boasts 974 career points with 771 rebounds in 105 career games played. She ranks fourth in career games played at Sage, while standing eighth in scoring, fourth in rebounding, and now has made 264 career free throws, which is third on the career record book at Sage.
Sage travels to Nazareth College for a 4:00 p.m. Empire 8 contest on February 15.
