Empire 8 Taps Rushinski as Offensive Player of the Week

Rochester, NY—Sophomore forward Charity Rushinski (Shusan, NY/Salem Central) of The Sage Colleges was honored on Monday as the Empire 8 Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts last week. Rushinski helped the Gators to a 2-0 week as they tallied 24 goals and allowed none beating Wells College and Dean College last week. On the season, Sage is now 4-5 riding a two-game win streak.

On the week, she led the Gators with her five goals and three assists for 13 points to lead Sage last week. Against Dean, added eight points in the match, tying her for the program's single-game points mark with eight points after scoring three goals and assisting on another pair.

On the season, Rushinski has 17 points and is third in the team's scoring race having racked up six goals with five assists. Only a second-year program, Sage's field hockey record book continues to grow with every passing contest. Rushinski is No. 2 all-time in career points with 28, while ranking in a tie for second in goals with nine and holds the Gators career assist mark with 10.

The Gators are back in action at Albertus Magnus College on October 2 for a 4 p.m. road contest in Connecticut.
