Alfred, NY — The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team competed against Cazenovia College on Sunday afternoon in the final day of the Alfred University Tournament. Sage posted the 4-0 win to improve to 2-1 overall and extend their streak to two wins as well.
Sage's sophomore midfielder Kevin Winglosky (Schodack, NY/Ichabod Crane) scored the first goal of the match off a corner kick and got assistance on the goals from sophomore Christian Vallstuen (Lillestrom, Norway) and sophomore midfielder Giddel Alvarado (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) at the 15:30 mark of the contest. Senior midfielder Alberto Cannistraci (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) added a goal in the first half on a pass from junior forward Griffin Goodemote (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) to give Sage a 2-0 lead at the break.
Junior forward Jeaneste Pierre (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) added his first goal of the season on a pass from rookie Matt Rabidi (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) at 50:50 to give the Gators a 3-0 lead. Junior forward Andy Acevedo (Modena, NY/Wallkill) added the final score after putting in his rebound off the Wildcats' keeper on the rebound at 77:18 to give Sage a 4-0 win.
In goal for the Gators, sophomore Lucas Bourdeau (Castleton-on-Hudson, NY/Maple Hill) made two saves in in goal and collected his first shutout of the season. Cazenovia's Maurice Tessman made eight saves with four goals allowed on 21 Sage shots.
Sage is back in action on September 11 at Plattsburgh State University for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest on the road.
