45 SAGE STUDENT-ATHLETES SELECTED FOR THE 2019 EMPIRE 8 SPRING PRESIDENTS' LIST
More Than 20% of Conference's Student-Athletes Posted at Least a 3.75 GPA During Spring Semester
Albany, NY- The Sage Colleges' had 45 student-athletes honored for their efforts in the classroom for the Spring of 2019 with the release of the Empire 8 Presidents' List. Sage's 17 varsity teams and 237 student-athletes combined for a 3.23 grade point average on the spring semester as well and all of the Gator teams registered as 3.2 or higher this spring.

The Empire 8 Conference announced its President's List for the 2019 Spring semester this morning. More than 750 student-athletes from the league's membership were recognized for their excellence in the classroom this past semester. In total, 779 student-athletes were recognized with the President's List distinction, one of most prestigious honors the conference recognizes following each semester.
Recipients of this honor must earn a 3.75 grade point average or higher during the semester, while participating in an NCAA-sponsored sport. In addition, the student-athlete must display positive conduct on and off campus and be enrolled full-time at the member institution. The conference states, "Its commitment to serve the educational needs of its student-athletes is the hallmark of the Empire 8 Conference."

The nine full-time conference members sponsored a record number of 3,744 student-athletes who combined for a conference-wide spring semester grade point average of 3.243. The 3.243 average GPA is the highest in the history of this honor being recognized by the league office.
Additionally, 116 teams were acknowledged as Empire 8 Conference All-Academic Teams for registering a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the spring semester. Remarkably, seven of the nine member institutions had at least ten programs earn this honor, while each of Stevens' 26 varsity programs qualified to receive the award. Continuing on with the accolades, the Sage men's cross country program posted a perfect spring semester gpa of 4.0 as a program.
"Our student-athletes continue to achieve at very high levels in the classroom. I am so proud of their accomplishments," said E8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano. "The commitment to academic excellence from our member institutions is unmatched and these numbers prove it."
Student-athletes representing each of the conference's nine member institutions were among those honored in this spring's edition of the E8 President's List. Leading the way was Stevens, which had an impressive 161 student-athletes earn the recognition. St. John Fisher and Utica tied for second with 103 student-athletes that garnered this honor. Rounding out the top five within the conference were Nazareth with 92 and Elmira, which had 78 honored.
