Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team hosted the Highlanders of Houghton College in the team's first Empire 8 conference match of the fall. Houghton earned the 8-1 win to give Sage their first loss of the season. Houghton improves to 1-1 overall and is also 1-1 in the Empire 8, while Sage falls to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8.

The lone winners on the day were the pair of Sage's juniors Julia Geisel (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and Rebecca Jackson (Saugerties, NY/John A. Coleman) as they beat Catie Moore and Amanda Carl, 8-6.

Sage's junior Sadie Dunne (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) had a tight match at No. 3 singles but fell in the tie breaker after winning the first set 6-4. She dropped the set 6-1 and the tie breaker, 10-8.

Sage is back in action on September 15 travelling to Elmira College for a 1 p.m. Empire 8 match.
