Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team member, sophomore defender Samantha Schmidt (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) was selected on Monday afternoon as the Empire 8 Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Schmidt helped the Gators to a 2-0 week with a 2-0 win over SUNY-Delhi and a 6-1 Empire 8 road win over Houghton College. Sage is now 9-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the league and will host Hartwick College on October 23 in a 7 p.m. Empire 8 match at ACP's Athletic Field.
Schmidt added three assists and assisted on the game-winning goal in the win over Houghton on October 20 from her defensive position on the field. A starter in 15 of 16 matches this season, Schmidt has assisted on four goals this year.
