New London, CT–Sage's sophomore guard Sammy Pasinella (Troy, NY/Mechanicville) led three Sage players in double figures with a game-high 19 points leading the Gators to a 78-67 win over Coast Guard in non-conference game. Sage improves to 4-5 overall while the Bears had their three game win streak snapped and drop to 8-3 on the season.
Graduate player Kaitlyn Bowman (Chateaugay, NY/Saranac) had 13 points, nine rebounds and a game-high six assists while junior Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central) added 12 points in the win for the Gators. Sage's senior tri-captain Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) had a game-high 10 rebounds for the Gators as they outrebounded the Bears 58-42 including 16 offensive rebounds.
Kyra Hartman led Coast Guard with 14 points while Jaqueline Ward (13), Annabella Farabaugh (10) and Zoe Riis-Fallica (10) also scored in double figures for the Bears. Breanna Wood had a team-high 10 rebounds while Ward led the Bears with five assists.
Sage led 16-13 after the first quarter and with the scored tied 25-25 with 4:37 left in the half, the Gators used a 14-1 run to end the half to take a 39-26 lead at the half.
The Gators pushed the lead to 55-38 with 1:39 left in the third before the Bears scored the final four of the quarter to start a 13-3 as Coast Guard cut the deficit to 58-51 on a basket by Rachel Everson with 6:46 left.
Coast Guard would get as close as six at 65-59 with 3:23 left, but the Gators pushed the lead back to 10 at 71-61 with 2:08 left to ice the win.
Sage shot 40.6 percent from the field (26-64) while making three of five from 3-point range in the win while Coast Guard shot a season low 29.7 percent from the floor (22-74) and made just 7 of 34 (20.6 percent) from behind the arc.
Flynn now checks in with 615 career points, while adding 497 rebounds. She is 9th all-time in career rebounding, while moving closer to cracking the program's Top 20 list in scoring. Patregnani stands fourth in career three-pointers made with 130. Patregnani also has 593 career points in her time at Sage.
Sage will travel to face Mt. St. Mary College on Thursday, January 2 for a 6 p.m. non-conference contest.
