TROY, N.Y. – A pair of long-standing program records fell as Russell Sage College had its final meet before the Empire 8 Conference Championships on Friday at the Capital District Classic, hosted by RPI.
Junior Hannah Maxson (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) set the school record in the javelin with a 30.97m throw. The mark, good for fourth in the event, bested the previous RSC standard of 30.78m set by Skylar Van Alstyne at the 2019 edition of the Capital District Classic.
Junior Alexis Arango (Albany, NY/Albany) finished fifth in the 400m run with a time of 1:05.93, while sophomore Alexius Smith (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) took sixth in the high jump with a 1.42m leap.
The Gators totaled 19 points, good for ninth out of 12 schools.
On the men's side, senior David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) broke a standard that stood for more than ten years in the 100m dash, clocking in at 11.20. The previous program best of 11.24 was set by Anthony Crawford in April 2015.
Adadjo, who finished ninth out of 57 entries in his record-breaking performance, also was ninth in the 400m dash. He clocked in at 50.54.
In the pole vault, junior Dylan Lawless (Slingerlands, NY/Guilderland/HVCC) improved upon his school record by clearing 3.30m. The height was good for ninth-place.
Senior Kaiden Simpson (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) tallied the highest finish at the meet for the men's team. He was eighth in the javelin with a mark of 45.28m.
RSC tied for tenth out of 12 competing institutions with five points.
