TROY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Outdoor Track and Field began a stretch of three local area competitions on Friday at RPI's Under the Lights Meet.
The Gators totaled eight top-ten finishes and a school record.
Senior Sarah Armenia (Saratoga Springs, NY/Shen) broke the program standard with the hammer throw with a mark of 32.94m. The distance was good for 11th place. She also finished 11th in the shot put with a 9.65m toss.
Sophomore Alexius Smith (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) took fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.36m, while freshman Stephanie Beyer (Lowville, NY/Lowville Academy) hurdled 400m in 1:24.25 to finish sixth.
The RSC women tied for ninth out of 12 squads with eight points.
On the men's side, senior Kaiden Simpson (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) had the top individual finish for the Gators. He was fifth in the javelin with a 43.65m throw.
Senior David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) sprinted 100m in 11.44 to finish ninth out of 47 entries, while junior Dylan Lawless (Slingerlands, NY/Guilderland/HVCC) took sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m.
The Gators tallied 15 points, good for tenth place out of 12 schools.
