FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Tennis was edged 4-3 this afternoon at SUNY Farmingdale.
Though the Gators (6-2) featured a different lineup for the Tuesday non-conference matinee, freshman Marian Aguirre (Plano, TX/Plano) and junior Tirzah Spivey (Clifton Park, NY/Schenectady) continued to excel.
Aguirre, the two-time Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week, and Spivey both won in singles and doubles. Aguirre, now 17-0 overall this fall,. boasts a 96-8 singles ledger, 48-3 in Conference matches.
She won 6-2, 6-1 at the top singles spot and teamed with fellow freshman Olivia Monaco (Campbell Hall, NY/Washingtonville) for a 6-2 victory at number one singles.
Spivey secured a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at number two singles to move to 8-0 on the fall. The two-time All-Conference selection and senior Emma Vander Baan (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional) helped the Gators earn the doubles point from the Rams (5-3) with a 6-3 win at number two.
Looking ahead, RSC hosts Hartwick on Friday afternoon.
