RSC Women's Tennis Edged by SUNY Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Tennis fell 4-3 to SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday night in their first full match of the season.

The Gators swept the Doubles portion of the match, kicking off the action with a 1-0 lead. Freshman Marian Aguirre (Plano, TX/Plano) took the number one singles match (6-0, 6-0) and junior Tirzah Spivey (Clifton Park, NY/Schenectady) won the number two singles match (6-3, 7-5), but the Cardinals won the other four to secure the win.

The Gators are back in action on Saturday as they host the Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport at Tri-City Fitness in Latham at 1:00 PM.


Gator Bites: The Gators have six newcomers and six returnees on this year's roster…Junior Tirzah Spivey (Clifton Park, NY/Schenectady), a two-time All-Empire 8 Conference singles selection, Emma Nuzzi (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), a grad student, and senior Emma Vander Baan (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional) headline the returning players…Spivey finished 5-1 at first singles in league play last season.
