Eichen Recognized On Senior Day

ALBANY, N.Y. - Russell Sage College wrapped up its season with this afternoon's 60-49 Empire 8 Conference loss to visiting Houghton.

The Highlanders, which entered the matinee as the top defense on the circuit, used a 25-10 run spanning the second, third, and fourth quarters, to secure the road victory.

Junior guard Olivia Huneau (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) set a career-high with 18 points on 60.0 percent shooting, while sophomore guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City), who began the day ranked fifth in the E8 in scoring, added 14 points, and seven rebounds.

Sophomore guard Crysta LaCrosse topped Houghton (21-4/12-4 E8) with 16 points on 50.0 percent shooting, while junior guard Kayla Camacho contributed 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Today concluded the season for the Gators (6-19/4-12 E8).  Houghton, which won 20 games for the first time since 1998-99, will play in next week's E8 Conference Championship Tournament.


Senior Day: Before the game, RSC Athletics recognized guard Gwen Eichen (Moriah, NY/Moriah Central) for her contributions to the women's basketball program.


Gator Bites: Head coach Allison Coleman began her tenth season at the helm with an overall record of 136-84…Sophomore guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City) started the leading RSC with a 14.5 scoring average, good for fifth in the E8…She scored 30 points on 45.0 percent shooting in the E8 victory vs. Elmira on January 12, becoming the just seventh Gator to score 30 or more points in a game.
