Alaina Kreuger Named Women's Cross Country Gator of the Year

Albany, NY – The Sage College's department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2013-2014 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams.

In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2013-2014 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as well as the ECAC Merit Medal and the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Sage's women's cross country program co-captain, sophomore Alaina Krueger (Selkirk, NY/Ravena-Selkirk-Coeymans) has made her impact felt for the Gators. Among the top finishers at every meet, she helped the Gators win the Castleton State College Invitational. She was the top Sage runner at four meets this fall, among them the 2013 Skyline Conference Championship where she finished in 10th place earning Skyline Conference Second Team honors and was instrumental in the team's success at the Skyline Conference Championship as the Gators finished in fourth place.

Head Coach Jim Bowles said of Krueger, "The additional of Alaina to our program has been such a plus!" Bowles added, "She is a well rounded student-athlete and her success in the classroom is mirrored by her success as a runner. The team earned acclaim from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2013 Scholar Athlete Team, while Krueger was also recognized as a member of the 2013 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team and Sage's 2013 Scholar-Athlete Team.
