Milton, NY---The Sage Colleges' women's cross country teams was in action on Saturday afternoon at the Mt. St. Mary College Invitational. Sage's women's team finished in fourth place in a field of 14 complete teams, while Union women's team won the 5 k race.
Leading Sage's women's team was sophomore co-captain Alaina Krueger (Selkirk, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) as she posted a time of 22:05 to take 13th place at the meet.
After Krueger was Sage's sophomore Ashley Maresca (Brant Lake, NY/North Warren Central) in 22:24 to take home 16th place. Junior co-captain Caitlin Coughlin (Palenville, NY/Catskill) picked up 31st place with her time of 23:28.
Rookie Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) picked up 39th place in 24:10, while freshman Ellyn Fisher (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) took 51st in 25:30. Next for the Gators was sophomore Megan Lugo (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) as she posted a time of 25:38 to take 52nd place.
Rookie Stephanie Schmidt (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) finished in 26:26 to take 55th place, while sophomore Leanne Egan (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) finished in 83rd place in 26:35. Freshman Morgan Rush (Troy, NY/Averill Park) finished in 87th in 26:47, while rookie Melissa Grimaldi (Nassau, NY/Columbia) picked up 91st place in 27:11.
Sage returns to action on October 19 travelling to Green Mountain College for a meet commencing at 11 a.m.
