Troy, NY—Sage's women's lacrosse team hosted the Mountaineers of Green Mountain College on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference match held at RPI's Renwyck Field. After trailing 6-3 at the half, Sage came from behind to post the 10-7 win over GMC. The win marks the second in a row for Sage and establishes a new standard for wins in a season for the young Gators as they are now 3-5 on the year. GMC drops to 1-3 on the season.

GMC jumped out to a 6-1 lead as junior midfielder Johanna Douglas (Essex, CT/Concord Academy) had a pair of first goals in the first half. Sage's sophomore midfielder Lindsay Millett (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) scored at 1:06 before the break to pull Sage within four goals, trailing 6-2 before senior attacker Alexa Pajak (Earlton, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) scored seconds later at 0:30 to put Sage down 6-3 at the break.

Pajak opened the second half with five unanswered goals to not only tie the game at 6-6 (16:54), but to give Sage an 8-6 lead with 13:43 left to play. Douglass connected for her third goal of the afternoon to halt the Gator scoring run at 9:48. Sage would score two more goals, one by freshman Mallory Hansen (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) and the final of the afternoon by Pajak to seal the Gators' win, 10-7.

For the afternoon, Pajak had seven goal and an assist, elevating her season leading totals to 33 goals and 10 assists for 43 points. Her team-leading performance also ranks nationally as she was No. 66 in goals per game prior to the contest (3.8) and No. 65 in points per game (5.0). She is now averaging 4.71 goals per game and 6.14 points per game.

She continues to add to the Gators' career scoring marks as well as she has tallied 70 goals, 15 assists and 85 points, all active career bests for the young Gator program. Her feat is even more amazing as she has played in just 19 career games at Sage.

Douglas finished with three goals and an assist and leads the Mountaineers this spring with her 15 goals and three assists for 18 points.

Sage's senior goalie Courtney Reed (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) recorded the win with her nine saves and continues to pen her name into the Gator record book. She now boasts four career wins in net, the most of any Sage goalie, while also racking up 291 career saves with a goals against average of 15.62 in 33 games played in goal.

GMC's junior Virginia Anderson (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) took the loss on Thursday she made 10 saves in the action.

The Gators have now won three of the team's last four contests and with Thursday's victory, head coach Pete Stapleton continues to elevate the program to a higher lever. The 2013 season continues to be one for the record books for the women's lacrosse program which is in its fifth season as a varsity team.

The Gators return to action on April 2 hosting Mt. St. Mary College at 4 p.m. in a Skyline Conference contest to be held at Union College's College Park Field. Green Mountain College is back in action on March 30 at Becker College in a 3 p.m. contest.
