Troy, NY---- The Sage Colleges softball team hosted the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Robison Field. Skidmore snapped Sage's eight game win streak and took the pair to improve to 7-9 overall and Sage drops to 8-11.

Skidmore's rookie pitcher Katie Sorochka (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) fired her first career no-hitter in the nightcap as she tallied the 5-0 win to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, April 9 travelling to Mt. St. Mary College for a noon Skyline Conference doubleheader.

Game # 1 Skidmore 8-1 Sage

Skidmore jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning and added five runs in the top of the fifth before the Gators scored their lone run of the contest in the bottom of the seventh.

Skidmore's senior Charlotte Evans (Richland, MI/Pawling (NY) added a double and drove in two runs for the Thoroughbreds, while going 2-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Senior Caitlin Ketcham (North Clarendon, VT/Mill River Union) added two RBIs and a pair of runs scored with a stolen base as Skidmore had seven hits in the game.

Sage's junior Ashley Eberle (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) drove in the Gators' lone run with her bat, while freshman first baseman Chantal Ceragioli (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) was 2-4 at the plate.

Sage's junior pitcher Rachel Smith (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) took the loss after five plus innings of work with two earned runs off six hits. She fanned three but drops to 3-3 on the season.

Skidmore's junior pitcher Sam Crose (Assonet, MA/Apponequet Regional) collected the complete game victory after fanning seven and yielding one unearned run. She is 2-6 on the season.

Game # 2 Skidmore 5-0 Sage

Skidmore's sophomore Julia Schwartz (Bryn Mawr, PA/The Shipley School) drove in a pair of runs, while senior Christina Hein (Burke, VA/Cairo American College (Egypt) had a solo home run to pace the team as they combined for six hits.

Sorochka struck out five and walked just three in seven hitless and scoreless innings of work as she improves to 2-1.

Sage's freshman pitcher Jackie Petteys (Fort Ann, NY/Hartford Central) took the loss with five earned runs off six hits. She fanned five and drops to 2-3.
