Troy, NY---- The Sage Colleges softball team hosted the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Sunday afternoon in a Skyline Conference home doubleheader at Robison Field. Sage bested the Dolphins twice to improve to 8-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference, while extending their win streak to eight games. CMSV drops to 1-17 overall and 0-6 in the league. The Gators won the first game 9-0 in five innings and took the nightcap 10-2 in six innings.

Sage returns to action on Wednesday, April 6 hosting Skidmore College in a non-conference doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. at Robison Field.

Game # 1 Sage 9-0 CMSV (5 innings)

Sophomore pitcher Kelsey Newberg (New Britain, CT/New Britain) had her no-hitter broken up in the top of the fifth inning when rookie Leann Cerbone (Bronx, NY/Preston) roped a single to left center and spoiled her bid for a no-hitter. Newberg fanned nine in the game and improves to 3-4 on the season.

Sage was led by freshman first baseman Chantal Ceragioli (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) as she drove in four runs and added a double in the game. Junior centerfielder Tiffany Bezio (Whitehall, NY/Whitehall) added a pair of doubles and an RBI, while freshman short stop Hillary Faas (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) drove in three runs and helped the Gators as they combined for 11 hits and tallied the team's fifth shutout win of the 2011 campaign.

Game # 2 Sage 10-2 CMSV (6 innings)

Sage's junior third basemen Meghan Welcome (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) connected on her second homerun of the season and helped the Gators connect for 16 hits in the game. Ceragioli was 3-4 with two runs scored, while freshman pitcher Jackie Petteys (Fort Ann, NY/Hartford Central) was 2-3 and drove in a pair of runs and earned the win in her six innings of work.

Petteys improves to 2-2 after she scattered seven hits and yielded just one earned run with 10 strikeouts.

Freshman Katie Karkoski (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) and junior Ashley Eberle (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) added doubles for the Gators.
