Gator booters ECAC Bound; Sage draws No. 6 seed in 2011 Metro Championship

Albany, NY---The Sage College men's soccer team, a second-year varsity program was awarded a bid to the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Division III Men's Soccer Tournament on Monday. Sage with an 11-7-1 overall record will face the 11-6-4 Ospreys of Richard Stockton College (Galloway, NJ) on Wednesday, November 9 in a 5:30 p.m. game. Drew University (Madison, NJ) earned the No. 1 seed in the six-team field, while the No. 2 seeded went to William Paterson University (13-4-3), third seed the Richard Stockton, fourth seeded the Rutgers University-Newark (11-8-2), fifth seed to St. Joseph's (13-8) and sixth seed to Sage.

Tickets for the contest at RSC are $5 for adults, $2 for students and senior citizens, while children under 12 are free.

As a first-year men's varsity program in 2010, Sage's men's soccer team earned a spot in the Skyline Conference post-season tournament under the guidance of rookie head coach, Kyle Clancy. The 2011 Gators exceeded all numbers established by the first-year program as they returned to the Skyline Conference Tournament and advanced to the 2011 conference semifinals and boast a high-powered offense that ranks among the leaders in Division III.

Head Coach Clancy said of the selection, "I am so excited for the guys on the team for this distinction." Clancy added, "They have worked hard this season and last and to be honored with such success in such a short time is quite an accomplishment."

With the release of the most recent NCAA Division III statistical rankings on October 31, Sage's team ranks 18th in total goals, 25th in scoring offense, and 49th in total assists. The 2011 Gators have connected on 54 goals, while averaging 3.0 goals per game with 38 assists (2.0 per game) in 19 matches.

Overall on the 2011 campaign, Sage's sophomore Wesley Finch (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) leads Sage with his program-best 11 goals, 28 points, and five game-winning goals. Finch is on target to become the program's 50 point scorer as he has 35 points on 14 goals with seven assists and six career game-winners in his time in a Sage uniform.

Rookie midfielder Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) has eight goals with a school-record seven assists this season, good enough for 23 points which is second highest on the 2011 squad.

For the Gators, freshman goalie Trevor Paddy (Brooklyn, NY/Jamaica) has an 8-3 record in net with a 1.0 goals against average and a .787 saves percentage.          -30-
