Farmingdale, NY--- The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team was in action on Friday night in the semifinals of the 2016 Skyline Conference championship. Seeded top in the tournament, the Rams posted a 5-0 win over fourth seeded Sage to advance to the championship match on Sunday. FSC improves to 13-4, while Sage's season ends at 7-7.
The match marked the career finale for Sage's two performers, graduate performer Melissa Estremera (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook) and Alex Faas (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia). On the season, Estremera went 8-4 at No. 2 singles, while Friday's match was unfinished. She teamed at No. 2 doubles with junior Shanessa Mendoza (North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield), but Sage's duo fell 8-1.
Overall on the season, junior Shanice Mendoza (North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield) led the team with her 9-4 mark in singles, including a 6-1 record in Skyline matches.
