TROY, NY--- The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team opened the 2016 season on Thursday afternoon hosting the Hawks of Hartwick College in the opener for both teams.  Hartwick won the non-conference match 8-1.

Making her debut in the line-up at No. 1 singles, rookie Sammantha Montague (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glenville) was victorious for the Gators as she posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hartwick's sophomore Rose Natoli (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell).  Natoli teamed at No. 1 doubles with junior Heidi Rice (Canandaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman) to post a narrow 8-5 win over Montague and her partner, rookie Abbey Clobridge (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park).

Sage returns to action on September 7 hosting SUNY-Delhi in a 4 p.m. non-conference match in Prospect Park in Troy.
