New York, NY – Sage's senior women's tennis team co-captain Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) was honored as the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

The Gator senior capped a record week with the honor after she competed at the 2014 ITA Small College Northeast Regional Championships. Among the many highlights from her performance last week was being named the No. 6 seed at the East Regional Singles Championship, a first for the women's tennis program at Sage. She capped the week with another program high-water mark as she played in the semifinals of the 2014 Singles' Championship.

Ackerman, who was a quarterfinalist a year ago in the 2013 Singles Tournament, played No. 3 seeded Kate Christensen of Vassar College. Christensen won the match, 6-2, 6-0, ending Ackerman's title hopes. She went 4-1 at the tournament in singles play, while going 5-1 overall last week in singles play as the Gators also beat MCLA 6-3 in a dual match last week. Ackerman is 12-2 in singles this fall, while boasting a 42-5 career singles record at Sage.  Overall on her tennis career at Sage she is 74-15.

The 2012 and 2013 Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year, Ackerman was also honored this past summer with a selection to the ITA 2013-2014 Scholar-Athlete Team for her excellent performance in the classroom

The Gators return to action on October 4 travelling to Mt. St. Mary College for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference match with the Knights.
