Sage's Kirsten Ackerman takes home 3rd place at 2014 ITA Northeast Championships

Geneva, NY – The 2014 ITA Small College Northeast Regional Championships wrapped play on Monday with the crowning of the East Regional Singles and Doubles Champions. Taking place on the campus of William Smith College since Saturday, Sage's senior co-captain Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) earned the No. 6 seed, a program first and added another program high-water mark as she played in the semifinals of the 2014 Singles' Championship.

Ackerman, who was a quarterfinalist a year ago in the 2013 Singles Tournament, played No. 3 seeded Kate Christensen of Vassar College. Christensen won the match, 6-2, 6-0, ending Ackerman's title hopes. Christensen went on to defeat The College of New Jersey's Brittany Reedman in the finals, 6-0, 6-0 to win the ITA East Regional Singles' crown.

Ackerman, who was also cited as the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday is now 12-2 in singles this fall, while boasting a 42-5 career singles record at Sage.  Overall on her tennis career at Sage she is 74-15.
