As a Gator newcomer in 2012, Kirsten Ackerman not only announced her arrival on campus with her outstanding play, but announced it throughout the Skyline Conference. By season’s end, she was named the 2012 Skyline Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year and was placed on the Skyline Conference First Team.

She went a perfect 13-0 in dual match singles play last year, while standing at 14-1 overall in singles. She was unblemished as well in Skyline singles action with a 6-0 record at No. 1 singles. She teamed at doubles and held the No. 2 position on the ladder, going 4-1 at No. 2 and 1-0 at No. 1 doubles in her first season at Sage.

She backed up her Sage rookie season with another Skyline Conference Player of the Year selection.  Ackerman, who played at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Gators in 2013, posted a 16-2 overall record this season, including a 13-1 mark at the No. 1 singles in dual match play. She added a 4-1 record in Skyline Conference play in singles, while also became the first player in Sage’s women’s tennis program history to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Northeast Regionals Championships after she defeated two seeded players and advanced farther than any Sage performer. Ackerman was tabbed the Skyline Player of the Week on five occasions in 2013 and owns an 11-4 record at the No. 1 doubles position as well.

She was named to the Skyline Conference First Team as well as a repeat honoree and now boasts a career singles record of 30-3, while owning a 25-7 record in doubles action.

A Dean’s List student at Sage, she is a nutrition major at Sage and will serve the team as a co-captain once again this year. She was named to the Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team in the Fall of 2012 and 2013, while also earning acclaim as a Sage Scholar-Athlete Honoree both semesters in 2013-2014. She was also named to the 2013-2014 ITA Scholar-Athlete Team as well for her efforts in the classroom.

A former team captain and tennis team MVP at Guilderland High School, Kirsten Ackerman excelled in high school. As a member of the 2008 team, she helped the squad capture the 2008 Section II Championship as well as finishing as a 2010 Section II finalist. She is the daughter of Elizabeth McVey of Mobile, Alabama and Phil Ackerman of Rensselaer, NY.
