Geneva, NY – The 2014 ITA Small College Northeast Regional Championships continued action on Sunday on the campus of William Smith College (Geneva, NY) on Saturday. Seeded No. 6, Sage's senior co-captain Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) has advanced to the 2014 Singles Semifinals and will play again on Monday at 9 a.m. after posting two wins on Sunday.
Ackerman, who was a quarterfinalist a year ago in the 2013 Singles Tournament, went 2-0 on Sunday in singles play. She opened play with a match that lasted three hours and 40 minutes. She beat No. 12 seeded Brianna Green of Skidmore College, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, she beat No. 13 seeded Jazmine Muniz-Cadorette of The College of New Jersey, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.
On Monday, Ackerman plays in the semifinals against No. 3 seeded Kate Christensen of Vassar College, a program first for Sage's women's tennis team.
Ackerman is now 12-1 in singles this fall is also 42-4 on her singles career at Sage. After Sunday's singles action, Ackerman is now 74-14 on her tennis career (singles and double) at Sage.
