Sage golfers finish action at first Empire 8 Championship

The Sage Colleges' men's golf team wrapped competition in the program's first Empire 8 Championship on Sunday afternoon and finished in ninth place. The two-day event was held at Kanon Valley Golf Course, a par 72, 6,700 yard course and saw St. John Fisher win the team title with a two-day total of 585 (294-291). St. John Fisher was led by the play of the medalist, Nick Calabrese who finished with a score of 140 (71-69).

Sage's rookie Blake Prichard (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) finished in a tie for 29th after posting a 167 (89-78). Sophomore Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) posted a 91 for the first day and posted an 86 on Sunday to take home 43rd place with a 177. Sophomore Jared Almy (Howes Cave, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) added a 100 for the first round and a 97 on Sunday carded a 97 to finish in 48th on a 197. Rounding out the Gators was senior Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and he had a took home 51st on a 248 (125-123) for the tournament.

Next up for the Gators, they will host the Sage Fall Invitational on Wednesday, September 20 at noon at Albany Country Club.
