Alfred, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team travelled to Houghton College on Saturday afternoon for an Empire 8 match-up. Sage rolled to the league win, beating Houghton, 76-57. The Gators led 29-23 at the half and cruised to victory leading by as many as 23 points. With the win Sage is now 7-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference. Houghton drops to 3-14 overall and 0-8 in the league.
Sophomore guard Isaiah Scurry (Albany, NY/Albany) added a team-best 21 points on Saturday after adding five baskets from three-point range. He leads Sage in scoring this year with his 235 points and a 15.7 ppg average, while also posting 41 three-pointers already. Junior center Kevin Lenehan (Delanson, NY/Duanesburg) added a double-double with his 10 points and 13 rebounds. Lenehan leads the team on the boards this season with 119 rebounds and an 8.5 rpg average. Sage's senior guard Jordan Devaughn (Jacksonville, FL/Flora McDonald Academy) racked up 12 points in the contest as Sage had 10 different players score in the contest.
Sage will return to action on Tuesday, January 23 hosting Stevens in a 6 p.m. Empire 8 contest in Kahl Gym.
