Gators Open E8 Championship Weekend with a Pair of School Records

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Russell Sage College began its weekend Empire 8 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Houghton University, with a pair of school records.

Senior Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) decreased the program standard in the mile with a time of 5:29.61, good for fifth place.

She teamed up with senior Giuliana Capparello (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Futlonville), and sophomores Charisma Losee (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) and Tirzah Spivey (Clifton Park, NY/Schenectady) to tally a fifth place showing in the DMR with a time of 14:40.77.

Junior Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston) registered the highest RSC finish on day one. She completed 5,000m fourth with a time of 19:01.21.

On the men's side, freshman Kyle Coyne (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) lowered his school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.32.

Junior David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) dashed 400m in 52.04 to take sixth, while junior Jacob Haynes (Cambridge, NY/Cambridge Central), junior Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills), sophomores Stephen Fleary (Cadyville, NY/Saranac), and sophomore Chris Pellegrini (Loudonville, NY/Colonie Central)teamed up to finish seventh in the DMR with a 13:01.75 clocking.

The RSC women currently sit sixth out of seven schools with eight points, while the men are tied for sixth with one point.

The meet resumes tomorrow at 10:00 am.


Gator Bites: RSC has set 12 indoor program records this season… Junior Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston), who lowered her school standards in the 3,000m and 5,000m this winter, was selected the E8 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 28.
