Opening day setback for the Gators at SUNY-Polytechnic

Marcy, NY– The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team travelled to SUNY-Polytechnic for the squad's season opener. The host Wildcats tallied a 20-2 victory to improve to 1-0 on the year, while Sage drops to 0-1.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 12-1 lead at the half and posted the 20-2 win on opening day as Krysta Beha added seven goals and a pair of assists. Meghan Serota added three goals and two assists, while Nicole DiPiazza added three goals in the action.

For the Gators, graduate performer Shirah Fudin (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) added two goals in the action. A 2014 IWLCA Scholar-Athlete last spring, Fudin now has 14 career goals and is No. 10 on the all-time career scoring list.

In goal for the Gators, sophomore Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) started in net and made nine saves in the action with 15 goals allowed in almost 41 minutes of work. Sophomore goalie Chelsea Hunt (Verplanck, NY/Hendrick Hudson) also worked in goal and had one save with five goals allowed in 19 minutes of action.

Sage returns to action on March 12 hosting Ramapo College at UAlbany's John Fallon Field at 7 p.m.
