GMC beats Sage, 6-3 in men's tennis play

GREEN MOUNTAIN COLLECTS 6-3 WIN OVER SAGE IN MEN'S TENNIS

Troy, NY—The Sage College's hosted the Eagles of Green Mountain College on Thursday at Prospect Park. GMC picked up a 6-3 win to improve to 2-8 overall, while the loss puts Sage at 1-10.

GMC took a 2-1 lead after doubles with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Freshman Connor Braden (Lafayette IN/Jefferson) and rookie Nate Berner-Tobin (Stratham, NH/Exeter) were an 8-2 win over junior Mike Hilton (Waterford, NY/Waterford Halfmoon) and sophomore Rob Hansen (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna). Seniors Chris Donovan (Bedford, MA/Bedford) and Andrew O'Neill (Philmont, NY/Hawthorne Valley) picked up an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles, besting junior Gerard Beaudin (Delmar, NY/Home Schooled) and Sean Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora).

Senior Cory Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) and senior Joe Kenealy (Lowville, NY/Lowville Academy Central) teamed for an 8-6 win, besting seniors Nicole Cardish (Walden, NY/Valley Central) and Chris Gaskin (Atlanta, GA/Atlanta Metro College).

Hansen and Sean Alvarado were the Gators' lone winners in singles play at No. 2 singles and No. 5 singles.

The Gators return to action on April 20 travelling to Purchase College for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
