Pajak leads Division 3 Women's Lacrosse Scoring

Indianapolis, IN—With the release of the latest NCAA Division III statistics, The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team and some of its members are among the national leaders. The Gators are under the guidance of second-year head coach Pete Stapleton. Sage, which stands at 0-1 on the young season, ranks No. 22 in scoring offense (16.0 ppg), while ranking No. 18 in draw controls (16.0) and No. 31 in caused turnovers (12.0).

Sage's senior attacker Alexa Pajak (Earlton, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) ranks first in Division III with her points per game average (12.0). She poured in 12 points in the Gators' opener on seven goals and five assists. In just 13 career games at Sage, she has penned her name to many of the young program's career marks.

Just one game into 2013 and she now holds the career point record with her 54 points after bettering the career record set by Ginelle Butler (2009-2012 with 47 points). Pajak also broke the career goal scoring record set last season by Butler (40) as she now has 44.  Another mark she also shattered in the action was the Sage career assists record as she also surpassed Butler's seven assists and now has 10 on her career.  In the same stats release, Pajak also checks in No. 2 in assists per game (5.0 apg) as well as No. 3 in goals (7.0).

Also noted for her play, freshman midfielder Mallory Hansen (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) also ranks in a handful of categories. She is No. 46 in goals per game (4.0), while also ranking No. 5 in caused turnovers (4.0).

Sage's senior goalie Courtney Reed (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) checks in at the No. 6 spot with her 15.0 saves per game average. Reed holds Sage's career saves mark with 229.

The Gators return to action on March 13 travelling to Utica College for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
