Potsdam, NY –The Sage women's soccer team opened competition on Saturday afternoon facing New England College in the Potsdam State Cup. New England College recorded the 1-0 win to improve to 2-1 on the year, while Sage falls for the first time and is now 1-1. Sage returns to action on Sunday in the final day of the event taking on Keuka College at noon.
NEC scored the lone goal of the match just before the half at Emily Gubbins converted the feed from Cameron Szuch at 42:31. The Gators had several chances but could not put the tying goal in the net.
Sage's rookie keeper Emalaigh Maloney (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) made four saves in the action, while NEC's Mackenzie Meegan had three saves.
