Gator women fall short at Farmingdale, 3-0
Sage's women's soccer team had their win streak snapped at 3 games on Saturday as the Rams held them in check.
Farmingdale, NY---The Rams of Farmingdale State College tallied a win over Sage's women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match. The loss snaps the Gators' three-game win streak and puts Sage at 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the Skyline Conference, while Farmingdale improves to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in the league.
Sophomore midfielder Kasey Estelle (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) put the Rams ahead only 2:52 into the match, as she netted the pass from junior forward Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip). Farmingdale State allowed one shot in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Rams came out of the break and scored within two minutes, as sophomore forward Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) put Farmingdale State on top 2-0. Freshman defender Sarah Golden (Greenport, N.Y./Greenport) assisted Merrill's score as well as the game clinching goal by junior defender Kerry Larkin (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) in the 85th minute. The Rams also held a 7-1 corner kick advantage over the Gators (5-6, 3-4 Skyline).
Senior goalkeeper Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) had 12 saves for Sage.
The Sage Colleges women's soccer team's home game scheduled for Sunday, October 17 has been moved to the Affrims Indoor Soccer Complex (Latham, NY). The Skyline Conference match will commence on Sunday at 1 p.m.
