Four Gators Score in Wednesday Afternoon Trip to Utica

UTICA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College women's lacrosse had four score goals as they fell 16-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Utica.

Senior defender Peggy Monti (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady), freshman defender Alexis Crossman (Corinth, NY/Corinth), senior attacker Grace Hines (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland), and junior midfielder Maddy Walter (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) each found the back of the net in the midweek action.

Senior midfielder Ashley Hearn (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) scooped up three ground balls and one draw control, while senior attacker Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) secured two draw controls and picked up a ground ball. Sophomore goalie Jaia Caron (Bellows Falls, VT/Bellows Falls Union) saved eleven shots.  

Utica University (12-3/4-1 E8) was led by Samatha DeCondo and Alyssa Drell who scored five and four goals respectively. Makayla Purdy saved five goals for the Pioneers. 

Looking ahead, RSC (6-7/2-3 E8) visits Bard for their final non-league matchup of the season on Thursday.


Gator Bites: The spring marks the first with Matt Johnson at the helm of the Gators…He got the first win on his RSC ledger on March 5 at SUNY Poly…Ten players, including eight starters, returned this season…RSC within striking distance of the program record for wins in a season...The 2017 Gators won seven games and qualified for the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament...Senior midfielder Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) began the season ranked second in school records in both points and goals…She became just the second Gator to score 100 career goals vs. Marywood on March 3 and reached 150 career goals in the E8 win vs. Keuka on April 19…Hines was announced as the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week honors the next day for her seven goal, one assist performance…She began the week leading the E8 in points per-game, goals, and goals per-game…Senior midfielder Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) was selected the E8 Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 10…She achieved a pair of milestones while helping the Gators go 2-0…Queeney became just the fourth RSC player to surpass 100 career points in Tuesday's win at SUNY Poly and set the program record for career draw controls in Saturday's victory vs. Castleton…The senior totaled five goals, six assists, 14 draw controls, four groundballs, and three caused turnovers across the pair of triumphs…Queeney surpassed 200 career draw controls on March 30 at Nazareth.
