Rutland, VT – Sage's men's tennis team opened the 2015 season on Thursday night travelling to Vermont and taking on the Spartans of Castleton State College at the Grand Slam Tennis Facility. Castleton picked up a 7-2 win to improve to 2-2, while Sage is 0-1 on the young season.
Playing at No. 1 singles for the Gators, senior Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) was a winner as she beat Kyle Martin, 6-4, 6-3. At sixth singles, senior Mark Castillo (Randolph, MA/Randolph) was winner as he topped Tyler Konopka, 6-0, 7-5 (7-5).
The Gators were slated to host Green Mountain College on March 22, but that match has been postponed. A new date has not been set yet. The Gators return to play on March 28 travelling to Sarah Lawrence College for a match with the Gryphons to open Skyline Conference play.
